Michael Marrochia was born on 24th January 1951, he was one of two twin boys born to Patricia and Antonio Marrochia. He grew up in Jersey Street, Ancoats (known as little Italy). He was one of five children. His family owned an Ice-Cream Business.

He met my mum working at Philips Rubber Factory and they later married. Anyone who knows my dad would know how big a Man Utd fan he was, he even changed his wedding day as it clashed with the Man Utd FA Cup Final!

He went on to have four children, Cheri, Michael, Donna and Chantel and two grandchildren Nicole and Molly. He was known to them as "Baby Grandad".

He became a best friend to Sean and a friend to many.

My dad would befriend anyone and would give you his last. He loved life. My dad had a lot of pride and his appearance meant alot, you would often smell his aftershave before he entered the room.

He will be missed more than words can describe. It feels as if there is a piece of us missing, he spent everyday with his family and its a big shock hes not here anymore to share our lives with us.

My Dad x

My dad was the closest person to me most of the time, he knew when I was down and when I was cross or excited and just wanted to talk to someone. He always had time to listen no matter what. We would often be trying to call each other just at the same moment.

He gave me so much love and gave me a purpose in life. I loved to make him happy and spend time with him, thats what I miss the most.

He loved to laugh and socialise and would chat to anyone. He always spent time with us Butlins, Bowling, meals, Cinema, Chester Zoo, Gullivers World, Blackpool, Man Utd Tour, Christmas Day etc etc. He was the soul of the party, he was the one who made the occasion fun!

He would give you his last and we always ended up with his easter eggs or selection boxes with a cuppa, (strong one sugar!)

He cried if I was sad, stroked my hair and told me how much he loved me and thanked me for everything I did for him, I just wish it could have been so much more.

I miss him so much and it hurts to think of what hes missing but Im sure hes with us in spirit. He may even be on the pitch as United haven't stopped winning since!

I thank him for all he taught me in life and I promise him I will pass it on to my children. I love you dad but im sure you already know that.. until we meet again (your first born ..as you would say)..Cheri xxxxx

Mike was a lovely guy, full of life and a real charachter, he made me laugh. He was a real charmer too and every time he saw me he asked me if I had contact lenses cos my eyes were so blue, he knew I didn't but that was Mike...sweet talking. He loved his football Man Utd were his team and his family were everything to him. He looked so proud of Cheri on her wedding day to Sean and his other 2 daughters,Donna & Chantelle, son Michael & his grandaughters Nicole & Molly. We had a great day that day and that's how I'll remember Mike laughing & dancing & loving life...god bless Mike rest in peace xxx

I only met Mike a few times but he was always friendly and enjoyed a good joke and bit of banter with me....maybe because we were both Reds. I'd love to have got to know him better...maybe on the other side eh Mike.
